Categories
31 awards are up for grabs at the Big Project ME Awards 2023, reflecting the full scope and size of the built environment. This year’s categories are broken into several groups including Individual Awards; Sustainability Awards; Developer Awards; Contractor Award and Project Awards. Companies must have an office in the Middle East to be eligible for these awards.
Individual Awards
This group of categories recognises the movers and shakers in the built environment. Individuals must be based in the Middle East and achievements highlighted should be within the 12 month period leading up to the BPME Awards.
Big Project’s
Young Professional of the Year
Fresh talent is crucial to the future of the built environment and this category recognises, and encourages, excellence from young men and women.

Mentor of the Year
The transmission of knowledge is crucial, and mentors can provide important advice, guidance and support to their mentees, helping the latter to develop important skills and abilities.

Woman of the Year
Diversity is still a challenge in the built environment and this category aims to shine a spotlight on women in non-executive or C-level roles in the sector.

This category was conceptualised to recognise the efforts of teams, whether they are delivering an entire project; a particular aspect of a project, or are operating the project, post-handover.

Executive of the Year
C-level executives are responsible for overseeing everything from a firm’s general direction to operations and growth. This category aims to recognise excellence in men and women sitting at the upper echelons of their respective organisations.
Sustainability Awards
Sustainability in the built environment has gone from being an optional extra to mandatory and the categories here seek to highlight and recognise sustainability-focused excellence. Organisations from across the Middle East are welcome to participate and should look to highlight their performance in the 12 months leading up to the Big Project ME Awards.

Supply Chain Sustainability Initiative of the Year
This category was conceptualised to celebrate a supply chain initiative or mandate that has been rolled out by a developer, contractor or supplier that puts sustainability in sharp focus.

Developers who have integrated sustainable principles into their day-to-day operations and mandated that their projects be delivered and operated sustainably will be recognised in this category

Companies investing in the development of residential, commercial, hospitality, and retail projects in the Middle East, with development values between US $30- to $100-million qualify to nominate for this award.

Contractors bear the ultimate burden of project delivery and must balance several elements to ensure that they not only deliver on their commitments but have a financially viable business that places a premium on staff safety and sustainability. With this group of awards, Big Project ME recognises the work of the region’s best and brightest contactors, whether they are small firms or large contractors delivering megaprojects with billions in revenue.

Skills Development Programme of the Year
This award aims to recognise development programmes that enable a contractor’s staff to develop personal and/or professional skills, thus enabling them to advance in their careers.

Fit-Out Contractor of the Year
Fit-out contractors take empty canvases and transform them into usable spaces or they can even reinvigorate out-of-date/underperforming spaces. This category is dedicated to recognising the region’s best fit-out contractors.

MEP Contractor of the Year
MEP contractors are responsible for the delivery of a structure’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing elements, and this category is dedicated to recognising the region’s most respected MEP organisations.

This category is dedicated to recognising the most professional, efficient and respected civil/infrastructure contractors, who are delivering anything from roads to power plants to refineries or even water distribution networks.

This category seeks to recognise the best of the region’s small contractors, and is open to nominations from firms with between US $2mn to $25mn in annual revenues.

Big Project ME has always focused on standout projects across the Middle East and is doubling down its focus by recognising a broader range of projects in line with market realities. This section of the BPME Awards focuses on everything from 3D printed projects to refurbishments, fit-out, massive residential masterplans and much more.

3D printing technology has emerged as a suitable method of on-site project delivery; this award looks to recognise standout projects that have been delivered using 3D printing technology.

This category recognises standout projects that have been delivered partially or fully using offsite construction – there are no restrictions with regards to the type of projects that can be submitted (residential, hospitality etc are all welcome).

The fit-out of any space calls for an eye for detail and collaboration, and this category highlights standout fit-out projects from across the Middle East. Projects submitted to this category must be new builds only.
